Dirty Blvd on Garment dyed - GxC Brown
Nobody knew the New York underground music scene like Lou Reed. The Velvet Underground were his ticket to higher musical spheres, but Lou Reed was most influential as solo artist. Dirty Blvd was his number one single from his 1989 album "New York". Go on, listen to the lyrics of Dirty Blvd and tell us Lou didn't know the New York streets..!
This T-shirt honours the great man and his imaginary street. If you've seen the font of our print before, you might be right. Dirty Blvd is written exactly in the same font as New York's street signs.
We screen printed the design on a garment dyed T-Shirt. A mix of Catechu (an extract of Acacia trees) and the leafs of the Goldenrod resulted in this beautiful brown.
The wonderful people at Alchemilla did all the magic. Check our plant based dye page for more information. Garment dyeing creates a more distressed or washed look that is very unique and adds a lot of interesting character to a T-Shirt.
